While many families are fielding multiple candidates in the current elections, husband and wife teams remain uncommon. Sangeeta Singh Deo, the wife of Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, is the BJP's nominee for the Balangir Lok Sabha constituency, which includes Patnagarh. He is the party's candidate for the Patnagarh Assembly seat in Odisha. On May 20, voters in both seats will cast ballots in Odisha's concurrent Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
